Course fee and Youth Travel Grants

A fee of 600 Euro will be charged to cover the cost for:

  • registration (incl. a welcome reception, a good-bye party and a conference abstract booklet)
  • accommodation in a shared double room at Spetses Hotel (incl. breakfast and lunch)

The accommodation will be arranged by the organisers.

The course fee must be paid by 5th of July 2017 to a Euro account to be announced.

FEBS Youth Travel Grants

A limited number of FEBS Youth Travel Grants for the travel and attendance of young scientists are available. The Organizers will select at least 8 candidates among the applicants based on their applications. The grants will fully or partially cover registration fees and travel costs.

Qualifications for the FEBS Youth Travel Grants:
  1. The applicant should be not older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society;
  2. The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society and provide a valid certificate of membership (for FEBS Constituent Societies, see the Our Members section of the website);
  3. The applicant should not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend a FEBS Course / Workshop in the current year or previous year, nor a Bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year;
  4. The applicant cannot be a resident of the country hosting the event (Greece);
  5. For awards with travel funding, only travel within the FEBS area from the applicant’s current country of residence to the country hosting the FEBS event is supported;
  6. Young scientists from the Organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for FEBS YTF awards.

Trans Youth Travel Grant

One Trans Youth Travel Grants for the travel and attendance of young scientists is available for a participant outside the FEBS area. The Organizers will select the candidate among the applicants based on their applications. The grants will fully or partially cover registration fees and travel costs.

Qualifications for the Trans Youth Travel Grants:
  1. The applicant should not be older than 35, should be registered as a PhD student at an institute of higher learning in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society, or should be a postdoctoral scientist within five years of having completed a PhD thesis, working in a country where there is an IUBMB-adhering body but not a FEBS Constituent Society;
  2. The applicant must be a member of an IUBMB-related society and provide a valid certificate of membership;
  3. The applicant should not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend a FEBS Course / Workshop in the current year or previous year, nor a Bursary to attend the FEBS Congress in the current year, nor a grant to attend the FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum in the current year;
  4. Awards will only be made to support travel from the applicant’s current country of residence to the country hosting the FEBS event;
  5. Young scientists from the Organizers’ laboratories are not eligible for FEBS YTF awards.
